Recently purchased from a private collection, this is a very rare Stratton compact. Normally Stratton does their compacts in gold with enameled decorations on the top. This one is all silver and has a deep, richly engraved figural tavern scene on the front. The silver is bright and shiny and the scene has a darker background giving the raised relief depth. It is quite extraordinary and unlike any I have ever seen before. Interior is in mint, unused condition with the typical covered powder well which is released when the compact is opened. Original puff as well. Measures 3" diameter.
